Andrea recently launched a new podcast called The Watchers where she and her cohost Jodie Mim watch Jersey-focused movies and TV. They’re kicking off their first season with the Showtime series Yellowjackets.
If you haven’t watched Yellowjackets, it’s about what happened to a (fictional) New Jersey high school girls’ soccer team who spent 19 months in the Canadian wilderness when their plane crashed there in 1996. The show follows the girls in 1996 and 2021. It’s a total celebration of 90s nostalgia, in general, and 90s Jersey nostalgia, in particular. You can watch the series premiere for free. But really, all you need to know about that show to enjoy this episode is that it has the most incredible soundtrack full of some of the best music to come out of the 90s.
Aside from talking about a few specific songs the show has used, we keep it spoiler free, so you don’t need to be a Yellowjackets fan to enjoy this one.
